Levi’s 501® Celebrated its 150th Anniversary at the Original Levi’s® Store in Grand Indonesia

Guests were treated to a photo exhibition and photobook launch alongside chances to customize your owGlobally-renowned jeans brand Levi’s® celebrated the 105th anniversary of its iconic 501® jeans in Jakarta, Indonesia. The special event took place in the city’s Original Levi’s® store where the creative community gathered for a 501® experience that included an art exhibition, a photo book launch and customization stations where attendees could personalize their own pair of 501®s.n Levi’s® 501® jeans.

In addition to the commemoration of the 501®’s 150th anniversary, Levi’s® also celebrated its The Greatest Story Ever Worn campaign which highlights the 501® jeans’ historical and cultural significance throughout the years. The campaign included creative ambassadors in the music industry who’ve shared their personal stories about the iconic denim. Levi’s® 501® 150th anniversary and The Greatest Story Ever Worncampaign was celebrated across various cities around the world including San Francisco, Tokyo, Korea, and Jakarta which included notable experiences and collaborations.

For Jakarta, Indonesia the city’s special Levi’s® event took place on May 19 to 20 at the Original Levi’s® store. Part of the activation was a photo exhibition and a photo book launch in collaboration with photographers Hilarius Jason, Vicky Tanzil, and Vony Wong. For their visuals, the creatives went on to capture Indonesian youth authentically expressing themselves through the 501® jeans — names such as Abdul, Adrian Khalif, Arswandaru, Danilla Riyadi, Michael Killian, Morad, RAMENGVRL, and Sammy Bramantyo were just some of the talents who provided their The Greatest Story Ever Worn stories. Each image represented the individual styles of the photographers involved and depicted each subjects’ own fashion aesthetic involving Levi’s® 501® jeans. Not only did the photo series showcase innovative youth fashion, but also served as a view inside various Indonesia subcultures.

In addition to the photo book exhibit and launch, guests were also given chances to personalize their own purchased 501® jeans. There were stations dedicated to three different visual artist who elevated customers’ pairs — Angela Judiyanto utilized patches, Indriya Jalu (Loudeath) showcased screenprints, and Studio Koneki (Mar Kristoff) employed paint markers. These varying styles resulted in some eye-catching pairs that were shared throughout the event.

The Levi’s® 501® 150th-anniversary celebrations symbolized the brand’s longevity and influence on culture, especially traditions, old and new, that have inspired the youth. Self-expression has always been at the core of Levi’s® and its The Greatest Story Ever Worn campaign this year perfectly encapsulated how truly personal style is to each individual who’ve grown up wearing ,and continue to wear the most celebrated jeans style in the world.
